In this PODCAST: Why Response Rates Are Dead, Mike Wesner, founder of enrollmentFUEL shares in an interview with a cross media company about how he became an Enrollment Management marketer almost 10 years ago. Mike saw his mailbox being bombarded with mail pieces from universities and colleges for his now graduated-from-college oldest son and was amazed at the uninspiring attempts to engage him. An industry leader in one-to-one marketing, he thought he could help those organizations “move the needle” more effectively.
Mike created a conscious goal to gain a seat at the table of the leaders actually planning the school’s enrollment strategy. He developed an insatiable desire to learn from people everywhere about their craft.
“Yes, that is true! He created a conscious life goal to gain a spot in the inner circle, and in order to do that, he knew he had to become a subject matter expert. So, he engaged in a genuine and honest way in conversations about strategy. I remember him reaching out to me many years ago when I was Vice President for Enrollment Management at Tusculum College,” shares enrollmentFUEL team member and chief enrollment consultant, Dr. Jacquelyn D. Elliott. “It seems so long ago now. He was different. He was, and still is, an idea guy, but he was a sponge about learning what he didn’t know. And the cool thing is this continues today in our entire organization. He’s immersed himself in everything about higher education and challenges us every day to be the very best at what we do.”
